[SCYYRA] Upcoming Southern California Junior Championship Events

The summer sailing season has finally arrived and this is a reminder to
competitors of the major regional regattas that are scheduled in Southern
California over the next  two months.

 

*         First, the Southern California Selection Regatta (Area J) for US
Sailing's Junior Triplehanded Championship (Sears Cup) will be held at
Mission Bay Yacht Club on June 18-19th. The entry deadline is June 14th,
2010; The NOR is posted at www.mbyc.org <http://www.mbyc.org/>  . A special
note is that competitors must not have reached their 19th birthday in 2010
and do not have to be members of the same Southern California yacht club!
This is an excellent opportunity to team up with friends from outside your
club and compete for a major National Championship. The good news is that
the Sears finals will be held at Mission Bay Yacht Club in August. For

*         The Club 420 Association's National Championship will be held at
Cal Yacht Club on July 8th thru 11th. The NOR is posted at
www.calyachtclub.com <http://www.calyachtclub.com/>  . The entry deadline is
Thursday July 8, 2010 at 1700 hours. Please note, the club has made
arrangements with the manufacturer to provide a limited number of boats for
charter, so if your 420 has some issues, contact Cal Yacht Club immediately
and arrange a charter before they are gone!  If you have regatta related
questions contact the regatta chairman Ray Mahaffey (rmahaffey at ca.rr.com).
This should be an outstanding event with lots of national competitors!

 

*         The Southern California Junior Olympic Festival will be held at
Santa Barbara Yacht Club on July 15  thru July 18th. The NOR is posted at
www.sbyc.org <http://www.sbyc.org/>  . The entry deadline is Friday July 9th
at 1700 hours. Online entry is available at
http://www.regattanetwork.com/html/calendar.php . Please note this regatta
is the Area J qualifying regatta for both US Sailing's Singlehanded
Championship (Smythe-Laser ) and Doublehanded Championship (Bemis- C420 with
Spinnaker)). Eligibility rules for each are in the NOR. If you have regatta

*         For Naples Sabot competitors, the first and second of the three
race SCYYRA Dick Sweet Team Race Series will be held at Alamitos Bay Yacht
Club on July 19th   and San Diego Yacht Club on July 26th. The Series NOR
will be posted at www.nhyc.org <http://www.nhyc.org/> , www.abyc.org
<http://www.abyc.org/>  and www.sdyc.org <http://www.sdyc.org/>  . If you
have regatta related questions please contact Jenn Lancaster via email at
racing at nhyc.org .

 

*         The 29er Class US National Championships will be held at Cabrillo
Beach Yacht Club on July 23 thru July 25th. The NOR is posted at
www.cbyc.org <http://www.cbyc.org/>  .The entry deadline is Friday July 23rd
at 1000 hours. Eligibility requirements are included in the NOR. If you have
regatta related questions please contact the regatta chairman John O'Connor
via email at bayoconnor at aol.com .

 

*         The CFJ Class National Championship Regatta will be held at
Alamitos Bay Yacht Club on July 30 thru August 1st. The NOR will be posted
on both the ABYC web site,  www.abyc.org <http://www.abyc.org/>   and the
CFJ Class web site  www.cfjclass.org <http://www.cfjclass.org/>  .
Eligibility requirements will be posted in the NOR. Don't forget  that all
boats competing in the CFJ Nationals must participate in the boat and sail
measurement process as part of the regatta. We are encouraging US Sailing
Youth Championship competitors to also participate in this regatta.  If you
