[SCYYRA] I420 PCC-Mid-Winters West Notice

SAILORS (and Parents),

On February 19-21 the US I-420 Class will hold a Pacific-Coast
Championship/Mid-Winters Regatta at Alamitos Bay Yacht Club in Long Beach,
California.

This event is a qualifier for the World Championship Team this summer in
Haifa and will also count points toward the World Championship Selection
Criteria.

While this notice is coming out later than we would like, this is the first
year for this event and we have been trying to set a date since last
October.  Once the event was agreed to and worked into a very busy Southern
California racing schedule - this past week - I had to wait until CISA
agreed to make their I-420 Fleet of boats available for charter, which they
did this afternoon.

Therefore, if you are interested in competing in this event fill out the
attached regatta application form and fax it back to the US I-420 Class
office as soon as possible...and then immediately go to the CISA website
(www.cisasailing.org <http://www.cisasailing.org/> ) and apply to charter a
boat directly from CISA if you need one.  YOU MUST BRING YOUR OWN SAILS IF
YOU ARE CHARTERING BOATS.

A Notice of Race is being approved by the Sponsor Yacht Club and will be
sent out as soon as it is approved.  Sailors from out of the area are
welcome to come in Thursday night or early Friday and we will assist with
accommodations and transport from the airport.  The closest airport of Long
Beach 15 minutes from the regatta site - and Los Angeles 30 minutes away.
We will also assist in return trips to the airports as best we can.

Tentative Schedule:
Friday - Registration starting at 10am and monitored practice sailing
Saturday - Registration starting at 8:30am - leave dock at 10:30am - First
Warning 11:30am (not confirmed)
Sunday - First Warning 11:00am (not confirmed) - not race started after
3:30pm

IT IS IMPORTANT TO NOTE THAT THREE (3) BOATS FROM THE CISA FLEET OF I-420's
WILL BE RESERVED FOR SAILORS FROM EAST OF CALIFORNIA, AND THE REMAINING
BOATS WILL BE RESERVED FOR CALIFORNIA SAILORS.  IF CALIFORNIA SAILORS HAVE
NOT RESERVED THE REMAINDER OF THE CISA FLEET BY 9am on FEBRUARY 5th, 2010,
ANY BOATS NOT CHARTERED WILL BE MADE AVAILABLE ON A FIRST COME - FIRST
SERVED BASIS TO ANY TEAM FROM ANYWHERE IN THE COUNTRY.
