MAISA Undergraduates, Parents, Coaches, Friends, & Others:
The Spring season proved to be a highly successful one for our sailors and
their teams. We were extremely well represented at all of the ICSA National
Championship Regattas, and a congratulations goes out to St. Mary's for
their win at the Team Race Nationals as well as to all the other teams who
put in great performances in the trying conditions in Wisconsin. As a
whole, MAISA did extremely well on the water during the first half of 2010,
a trend which I hope will continue as we move forward into the Fall season.
The delegates at the ICSA Annual Meeting in Madison, WI discussed a number
of issues regarding the national organization and future events. A major
development is the new push by ICSA and the individual conferences to do as
much as possible to reduce our plastic and trash usage at events. I know
that sailors in MAISA can adapt to using re-usable water containers so that
we best limit our environmental impact into the future. If anyone has
questions regarding June's ICSA Annual Meeting please don't hesitate to
contact either myself or Ann Campbell.
Lastly, the MAISA website is undergoing a transformation into a site that
reflects the professional and competitive athletic conference that we are.
At this time I am most in need of racing pictures to give to our webmaster
for the site design and I welcome submissions that hopefully will be used as
images of our sport. If anyone has ideas for the site or questions about
it, please let me know. It has been a pleasure serving as MAISA
Undergraduate President so far and I cannot wait for the Fall Season to get
started.
Sail Fast,
