2008 Nelson Roltsch Regatta
Tulane University/Southern Yacht Club
February 2-3, 2008

REGATTA HIGHLIGHTS
Day one's winds blew 6-11 knots from the South-Southwest on smooth waters,
and a total of 12 races were held. The second day held heavier winds from
the South with occasional shifts from South-Southwest, pushing up from 15
knots to over 20 on light chop. 12 races were held on the second day for a
total of 24 races for the regatta. Four teams were No-Shows on day two of
this Mardi Gras weekend regatta: Texas A&M, Texas A&M Galveston, University
of North Texas, and Vanderbilt. The second day held two protests. The
University of South Alabama protested Boston University but the protest was
disallowed. In addition, Texas protested Florida and this protest was also
disallowed. Congratulations to Boston University on winning first overall,
and thanks to all the teams the made it out to compete. Thanks to Pat
Hitchins our principal race officer, and to Rachel Daugherty for arranging
our needs with Southern Yacht Club.
